Edward J. Young

2021

On Wednesday, February 14, 1968, Orthodox Presbyterian minister and Westminster Seminary professor Edward J. Young died of a heart attack at the age of sixty-one. Young and his wife, Lillian, had spent the day in the city of Philadelphia visiting the silver shops on Sansom Street and the antique shops on Pine Street. When they returned to their home, Young collapsed. Taken to Abington hospital, he died shortly after arriving. Three days later, a packed memorial service was held at Calvary OPC, Glenside, where Young and his family had worshiped for over twenty years. John Skilton conducted the service and preached. Davis Young, Richard Gaffin Jr., David Young, Paul Woolley and Arthur Kuschke served as pallbearers. Skilton conducted the grave site service as Young was buried in George Washington Memorial Park in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.
