July 18 Today in OPC History

On July 18, 1999, the Rev. Richard Gerber was installed as the Associate General Secretary of the Committee on Home Missions and Church Extension. Serving alongside his close friend, CHMCE General Secretary Ross Graham, Gerber helped numerous OPC church plants get started. He also played an important role in mentoring young organizing pastors, assisting overseeing sessions and interacting with the missions' committees of the presbyteries. Following Graham's retirement in 2012, Gerber helped current CHMCE General Secretary John Shaw transition into his role in 2013 and retired in 2015.
