September 8 Today in OPC History

On September 8, 1961, the Rev. Leslie A. Dunn, pastor of Grace OPC, Westfield, completed 25 years of continuous pastoral ministry in the Presbytery of New Jersey. In light of Mr. Dunn's devoted service to Christ and his church, the Presbytery adopted the following resolution: "Whereas, Mr. Dunn has contributed generously to the Presbytery by his faithful attendance at its meetings, by his service on nearly all of its standing committees, by his vision in the organization of the Boardwalk Chapel, and by his wise private and public counsel in many matters, therefore be it resolved, that the Presbytery congratulate the Rev. Leslie A. Dunn on his completion of 25 years of service, and express its hope that God will richly bless his ministry, both as a pastor and as a presbyter."

Les Dunn would go on to pastor Second Parish OPC, Portland, Maine, and Forest View OPC, Tinley Park, Illinois before his retirement in 1980. Into his late 80s and early 90s, he was still active in the church, even serving as a commissioner to the Sixty-fourth (1997) General Assembly. He went to be with the Lord in glory in 2001.
