August 10 Today in OPC History

On this date in 1966, many OPC pastors were in the process of relocating to new pastoral calls in the church. The Rev. Ivan De Master and his family had moved to Westchester, Illinois, where he had accepted the call to become the new pastor of Westminster Church. Mr. De Master had served the previous four years as pastor of Community OPC in Center Square, Pennsylvania.

After twelve years at Emmanuel Church in Wilmington, Deleware, the Rev. Robert Eckardt had accepted a call to Covenant Church, Vineland, New Jersey, and he and his family were planning on moving into the Vineland manse by the end of the summer. The Rev. Maurice Riedesel had also accepted a call from the CHMCE to work among the Spanish-speaking people in Vineland.

The Rev. Kenneth Meilahn, formerly principal of the Middletown Christian School, accepted the call to Immanuel Church in Bellmawr, New Jersey. He and his family were planning to take up residence in Bellmawr in early September.

The Rev. Jack Peterson family moved to Florida during the summer from Stratford, New Jersey, in order to accept the call of the Committee on Home Missions and Church Extension to serve as a church planter in West Palm Beach.

Licentiate Ronald Shaw and his wife, Queta, moved to Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania, where he had accepted the call of Faith Church. Licentiate Luder Whitlock accepted a call to Sharon OPC, where he and his family occupied the manse in Hialeah, Florida.
