Bible Distribution in Franklin Square

2022

On this date in 1965, forty-five members of the Franklin Square OPC in New York were concluding a two week Bible distribution to the community surrounding their church. Working in pairs, the members covered 321 blocks with the goal of visiting every alternate home. 6,158 portions of Scripture (Gospels) were handed out during this time along with an invitation to attend Sunday school and worship services at FSOPC. The canvasing members also invited individuals to attend a series of nightly meetings from November 28 through December 5 featuring Mr. Ernest Reisinger. Mr. Reisinger's topic for the meetings was "Assurance of Salvation and the Lordship of Christ."

Pastor John Hills commented in the Presbyterian Guardian, "Thanks to the diligence and enthusiasm of our people we far exceeded our goal of getting the Word of God into 5,000 homes, and before long hope to be reaching another area of 3,500 homes."
