John P. Galbraith

2023

On February 4, 1993, the Committee on Ecumenicity and Interchurch Relations meeting in Horsham, Pennsylvania passed a tribute of thanks to God for the service of the Rev. John P. Galbraith upon his retirement as chairman of the Committee. The tribute read,

You have served the Committee since 1971, as chairman since 1980. You have led the Orthodox Presbyterian Church into a worldwide ecumenical vision. You have taught us by word and example how to work with the people of God in his church. You have served the worldwide Reformed body of Christ as a delegate to the Reformed Ecumenical Synod/Council in 1963, 1968, 1972, 1976, 1980, 1984, and 1988, as president for three terms stretching over 12 years, 1976–1988, with distinction, under extremely trying and difficult circumstances. And now you have retired as chairman of the Committee. On this occasion we pause to thank our Lord, and you, for using your gifts in the service of the Lord and his church.

On June 30, 2016, Mr. Galbraith went to be with the Lord in glory at the age of 103.
