Teacher Training at Lakeview OPC

On this date in 1989, Lakeview Presbyterian Church (OPC), West Rockport, Maine, hosted the final day of a teacher training conference, led by Penny Pappas. Sunday school teachers from Lakeview Church and Pilgrim OPC in Bangor, attended, as did teachers from several Baptist churches in the Rockport area. One participant commented, "Penny Pappas did a great job. She was so down to earth yet inspirational!"

Penny certainly knew the Great Commission curriculum well, having written much of the material herself. Throughout that decade she conducted many seminars in east coast OP congregations for the Committee on Christian Education, even while she served as a principal at Phil-Mont Christian Academy and taught Sunday school at Trinity OPC in Hatboro, Pennsylvania.

In 2000 Penny returned to Lakeview when she moved to coastal Maine following the death of her husband, John. She was a beloved member of the church, especially appreciated for the baked goods she faithfully prepared for Sunday mornings, until she passed away on March 20, 2016.
