Thirty-first (1964) General Assembly

On April 30, 1964, the Thirty-first General Assembly entered its third day of business with the Rev. Glenn Coie, pastor of Sharon OPC, Hialeah, Florida, moderating. The major item of deliberation was the recommendation of the Stewardship Committee for the combined budget. The Committee recommended raising the amount given to the Committee on Christian Education by thirty percent in the 1965 year. The Stewardship Committee argued that the increase would allow the CCE to continue production of its Great Commission Publications Sunday school materials. In previous years, the production had been financed through loans. The total recommended distribution of the combined 1965 budget was Foreign Missions $105,000, Home Missions $91,000, Christian Education $52,000 and General Benevolence $9,120. On amended motion the recommendation was adopted.
