Saying ... Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing (Revelation 5:12).
Bible Reading
Revelation 5:Devotional
The Lamb, of whom the paschal lamb of Egypt was a type, is the Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world. It is He that was brought as a lamb to the slaughter. It is He of whom John the Baptist said, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."
The great multitude which John, the apostle, saw standing "before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands" are "they which came out of the great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb." They have overcome the wicked one "by the blood of the Lamb." "These are they which follow the Lamb withersoever he goeth." "They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes." They owe it all to the Lamb. No wonder they ascribe all praise to him, saying with loud voices, "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing." They sing the song of Moses and of the Lamb.
"Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb."
Prayer
O Lord our God, we thank Thee for the promise, that, though our sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, for the assurance that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from, all sin, for the certainty that we belong to those who have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. May we give glory and honor and praise to the Lamb that was slain, now and for ever. In his name we pray. Amen.
