Thank Offering Video #4: Home Missions

The OPC is pleased to present the 4th in a series of videos that are being made available this year to help promote the Thank Offering. The videos are timed to coordinate with the suggested distribution schedule for the bulletin inserts that were mailed to all churches earlier this month (see schedule, below).

This week's video focuses on the work of the Committee on Home Missions and Church Extension (CHMCE). General Secretary John Shaw discusses how the Thank Offering supports CHMCE'S church-planting work as the Lord continues to gather people together to form new congregations in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. In the next 12 months, new church plants are anticipated in such places as Houston, TX; Yuma, AZ; Virginia Beach, VA; and Jacksonville, FL.

Church Plants:

In addition, Jeremiah Montgomery, Pastor of Resurrection OPC in State College, Pennsylvania, describes how gifts received through the Thank Offering help a church plant's congregation and pastor focus their attention on planting the church rather than scrambling to pay their bills.

"Everybody involved makes a multi-year commitment to spiritual stress and personal sacrifice .... the support of the wider church means that the financial aspect of that will be significantly ameliorated," says Jeremiah Montgomery.
