The Lord Provides in Tragedy

Trish Duggan

As some of you may have heard, Living Water OPC, Springfield, OH Pastor Dan Doleys and his family suffered a fire in their family home on January 4. Praise the Lord they were not home at the time and no one was hurt, but they have lost everything. Deacon David Snyder and others from the congregation have been ministering to their immediate needs.

The prayers of His people have been answered and the Lord has been providing amply and in manifold ways for the Doleys family. The family is currently living in temporary housing nearby but hopes to return to their property to live short-term in a trailer to care for their animals, farm and garden. Since the fire was determined to be related to an electrical problem, the Doleys have been advised that their home, contents, and temporary housing will be covered by insurance. Praise the Lord!

The session of Living Water OPC has graciously provided pulpit supply for at least a month so that Pastor Doleys is able to focus his attention on his family’s needs. Deacon David Snyder and others from the congregation have been ministering to the immediate needs. The Presbytery of Ohio’s Diaconal Committee as well as OPC Disaster Response stand ready to assist Living Water, if needed.

Please continue to pray as the family adjusts to all the changes and as they begin to search for construction contractors for the house rebuild. Praise the Lord for His goodness in all things!

Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
