September 23 Today in OPC History

On this day in 1979, Jerold W. Barnett was ordained and installed as a ruling elder at Westminster OPC in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. During Mr. Barnett's forty-two years of service on the session at Westminster Church he has served alongside pastors Dennis Prutow (1974-82), Chester Lanious (1982-85), Richard Shaw (1985-97), Joseph Auksela (1999-2014), Edward Eppinger (2003-08), and Charence Veld (2016 to 2023), and recently installed (July 25, 2025) Timothy McClymonds. Mr. Barnett also served faithfully on the Committee on Home Missions and Church Extension of the OPC for over a decade.
