Edmund Clowney and Great Commission Publications

On March 28, 1950, the Committee on Christian Education of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church met to work out the arrangements with Edmund Clowney that would enable him both to pastor Grace OPC, Westfield, New Jersey, and be the primary author of covenant youth Sunday School materials. It was agreed by all that Mr. Clowney would supply Grace Church with minimum pastor services. The church would provide Mr. Clowney with residence, utilities, and $1,500 yearly. The CCE would provide Mr. Clowney $2,400 yearly for his work. After the compensation was agreed upon, Mr. Clowney presented the proposed topics for the Summer Bible School curriculum, which included studies in doctrine and life. The CCE gave its approval and determined to name the courses, Great Commission.
