Korean American Presbyterian Church

The Fourth General Assembly of the Korean American Presbyterian Church meeting in San Francisco was finishing up on this day in 1980. The Korean Central Church building, in which the Assembly met and commissioners and their wives were accommodated, was the former “People’s Temple” of the late cult leader, Jim Jones. It previously had been purchased by the church from the State of California at public auction. The Rev. Bruce F. Hunt served as the Orthodox Presbyterian fraternal delegate to the assembly. Rev. Hunt also helped advise the KAPC Assembly as it sought to follow in general the pattern of the "Hop Dong" Presbyterian Church in Korea, a church that Rev. Hunt and other OPC missionaries in Korea had worked closely with over the years.
