Planting an Orthodox Presbyterian Church

2021

On November 3, 2001, the Regional Church Extension Conference held at Church of the Covenant in Hackettstown, New Jersey, was finishing its three-day meeting. At the conference, CHMCE General Secretary Ross Graham presented five one-hour sessions to presbytery representatives to review and critique a draft of the manual "Planting an Orthodox Presbyterian Church." The manual sought to provide instruction in the establishing of a Presbyterian and Reformed Church for organizing pastors, overseeing elders, and members of home missions committees. Mr. Graham and Associate General Secretary Richard Gerber took the comments from the conference participants back to the Committee on Home Missions and Church Extension, which approved the final version on December 12, 2001.

Among those present at the meeting giving feedback were regional home missionaries Gary Davenport (Southwest), Jim Bosgraf (Midwest), Thomas Tyson (Philadelphia), Jim Heemstra (South), Donald Poundstone (Southern California), Dick Ellis (Mid-Atlantic) and Danny Olinger (Ohio); and Presbytery home missions representatives Lacy Andrews (Southeast), Edd Cathey (Philadelphia), Len Chanoux (New Jersey), Bruce Fenton (New Jersey), Larry Conard (Northwest), Ivan DeMaster (Midwest), Steve Doe (Mid-Atlantic), Bill Hobbs (South), George Scipione (Southern California), Rick Shaw (Southwest), Terry Thole (Dakotas), and Bill Miller (Central US).
